Beretta 92F
Visions of owning a Beretta 92f have been playing in my brain since last friday when I saw one on consignment at one of the local fun 380 colt mustang . I only had time to take a quick look at it, because it was almost closing time. The Beretta 92 or M9 has been on my “To Buy List” for a while.
At $575 it was okay price for my area, plus it had Crimson Trace grips. So all week I’ve been trying to figure out a way to fit it into my gun buget. Because I had a Marlin 336 and a Norinco 97 on layaway there and a S&W 4006 on layaway at another Colt 1908 grip. Well I came up with a bit of extra cash so it’d fit the buget, so I head up there today and ask the gal to see it, good thing, in the better light of day (when I was there last, at night, the shop is really dark ) I noticed it had pretty good holster wear, so I asked if the owner was a LEO, the gal said yes, but only a reserve. The more I looked the stranger the wear patterns Beretta 92 fs . Worse yet the thing was caked in p93 ruger in every nook and cranny. I did a quick strip down and the p93 ruger was dirty. The more I saw the less I liked.
I hand it back and start to look for a Ruger Blackhawk in .357mag they had NIB, gone.
Then I notice a S&W model 59, chromed and the grip feels wrong.
Then next to the 59, under the phone on the counter, I see a nice Colt 1908 grip

4. Disassemble the YHM free float… into the float tube, aluminum barrel nut, and float tube lock nut.
5. Insert the barrel into the upper receiver. Apply a little moly grease to the threads of the upper receiver.
6. Install the barrel nut, and get it snug (this should be tightened just like any other barrel nut, torque it to spec)…. then tighten until you align with RUGER 10/22 next possible gas tube hole. Slip the gas tube in from the rear to ensure you are aligned:
7. Install the float tube lock nut. Thread it all the way to the rear, flush with the back edge of the barrel nut. I like to use a little blue locktite on this, to ensure it wont back off in the field. A little Loctite makes all the Aimpoint difference!

The G model was developed for a specific counter-terrorist unit in Europe who didn’t want to accidentally activate the 92FS’s safety at the wrong moment….thus the G model was created to preclude the possibility of accidentally engaging the safety by eliminating the lever’s function as a safety entirely.
As far as worth, if the weapons are in good ruger p 89 shape and they are in your price range, go ahead and buy one. Berettas get a lot of static, but in reality they are pretty good handguns with a good overall service record, especially in Colt 1903 grip.
If they are police turn-ins, I would expect them to sell for between 250 and 350 bucks depending on the condition of the finish.
I own 2 Beretta 92s, a 92 FS and a first generation 92 Elite. They have been very reliable pistols for me in all the years I have owned a colt officer model:
